These are they who follow in the path of the masters. Their creations are superb. Their pieces are worthy of our money and time, discussion and attention.
Far too often the music piped out by the broadcasting companies is over dubbed, poorly mastered, and highly promoted by those with the means to do so, regardless of the merits of the piece. I believe it is the mass production of repeated “Tonic-Dominant-Sub dominant” chord structures that has desensitized us to what music should be. What it IS.
When I was studying music and the university level it was necessary to take several years worth of music history classes. These were hard for me, mostly because I didn’t spend the time I should have to learn the material. But, out of these classes I did take something that has a hold on me even now, years after graduating. Something that I can’t let go of.
Music is beautiful.
It’s part of our souls. It’s one of the things that elevates man above the other creatures of the earth, and as such I consider it sacred.
